You said you met me when you were bored…

Ch. 1-2 · July 3, 2026

Well folks here we are book two and starting it on a running day no less. And its independence day so … Welcome to earth I suppose! Starting off with a prologue and once again this book is brought to my ears by the wonderful full cast of Graphic Audio (I swear I’m not sponsored but shit, I’d take a Graphic audio sponsorship!) We’re getting a quick recap in the form of a fever dream that Fey is having. and starting off strong with our first trope is the dream/nightmare sequence with a hooded character only to be revealed that under the hood is well its Feyre herself! She would have gotten away with it too if it weren’t for those pesky Fae!

These regular nightmares lead to puking and that doesn’t disturb Tam at all. And he’s sound asleep in between heaves she admires the tattoo on her arm Rhys gave her and is reminded of her deal. Which he hasn’t cashed in yet… Suspense! She also can’t stop saying bathing room. It’s bathing room this and bathing room that. So damn annoying I wrote it down mid run. It bothered me that much. Not as much as rows and rows of teeth. Yet it still made the list.

Sidebar:

Additionally, Feyre takes the time to complain about her new found Faery powers. She’s too strong, too perfect and too much this and that. No wonder you’re puking so much. You should be sick of all the useless first world Fae problems your having you silly fool! Not to be outdone but our lad Tam is also having nightmares but you know instead of dealing with them he transforms into a beast and gallops off to frolic in the woods instead of getting therapy. Glad to know dudes seeking out help in all realms is an impossible task (yes I’m self incriminating here, and its really a bummer I can’t shape-shift) I digress. Still Tam is classic Tam. Glad this hasn’t changed in book two.

Apparently book two is where the building happens and there is a village being built. Why we care? Who knows, the real story here is that Tamlin is starting to show his possessive nature and refuses to let Fey leave the manor, let alone the grounds. 🚩 on the play dude. You got the girl let her roam. Seems like now that everything is “saved” she’s on a tighter leash and also it seems our girl is engaged and you know that means her life is destined to be some bride that might as well be locked up in a tower. Are we going to mix fairy tales here? errr I mean Faerytales? One can only hope its a musical. Fey and Tam have a minor spat. She wants to do stuff. He’s busy and suggests painting and she’s all like dude thats Booooring! Oh and her wardrobe is 100% just dresses now. No more pants. Not even a nice pantsuit. Girl you’re locked in. Good fucking luck!

We meet some high priestess named Ianthe. I hate this name. Honestly just typing it come the fuck on SJM. Apparently her and Tam-Tam go way back. Did they hook up? Was she his first? Maybe second base only? Was she his wingman at the local pub? Now that could be interesting fan-fiction. She’s helping to plan the wedding but my spidey senses are tingling and saying this lady has some motives. Like if there were a collection of motives… She has. A LOT of motives. She’s up and coming. A mover and shaker in the priestess scene. But she’s also allowed to kinda just sleep around and is kinda a player? Lives on the grounds. Has a nice little house. Mysterious. Powerful. Bet she’s hot too.

Fae wedding planning seems to be the same as human wedding planning. Tho they allude to much more murder potentially happening if the wrong people sit next to each other. The only thing I had to worry about was having enough alcohol available for my drunk uncle and his son. For those in the know we ran out of alcohol twice at my wedding. Yeah. Thankfully the beer store was a block away.

Highlight of this first listen was that during an argument turned makeout session Feyre said “cauldron boil me” which has become a favorite saying of mine these days this happened right after and I quote “the first stroke of his tongue I stopped arguing” If only it were that easy… Maybe Lucien has some quote competition.

All of this to say this section of the book is boooooring. Its maybe necessary but at what cost. I guess its easy to complain. I’m only listening to it and not writing it. It’s a rocky start tho. I’m glad to be back and hope that it picks up some steam. I am left with one nagging question at the end of my listen today. I wonder which way the toilet flushes in Prythian?
