Before he can stop her Luc drops another classic quote in the form of “Cauldron boil and fry me” Dude is aging like fine wine… The high Fae can play the fiddle? Is he secretly a good ol’boy from the country? naw prolly not. However, funny to know that he and I have playing the violin in common. Well at least I used to play.. Anyhow. Let me tell you the part where Tam is playing a violin solo for Fey and the way its written has got to be an allegory for fucking. Straight up. Cut to things finally getting busy. It took us 27 chapters to get here folks. 27 chapters of this and that, the ooh he’s so mean, the coy looks, being hot and bothered. The how dare he’s… well They are quick to get to the pleasantries. If this is the part you’ve been waiting for. It’s what you expect. You’ll get all the answers you need. After the first kiss its a little “Give me everything” from Fey and Tam delivers. Looks like somebody is good at their “duties” Honestly expected at this point. Dude is Old as dirt he should be good. We wrap the scene with Fey falling asleep and Tam whispering sweet nothings in her ear. He loves her “Thorns” and all. BOOM book title callback! (mic drop). The unexpected twist in everything is apparently Tam is going to take on the burden of Fey’s obligation. He’s shipping her off home to be with her family. Booo! But we know the real reason its so Rhys cant get at her or that Amarantha or whoever. Oh right I skipped over that whole Rhysand part. Somewhere in all of this in the middle of dinner. This Rhysand dude showed up. Lives under a mountain for the last 50 years? But also Tam was bound to his court for the last 50 as well? Interesting. I guess Rhys does the bidding of Amarantha? You can’t read that name and tell me the author just couldn’t make up her mind and jammed all the names together. Anywho! She seems like a piece of work and Rhys is her little whore or vice versa? Its a bit of a blur. I was running after all. But its all bad news. its clear he wants Fey. Tam had to beg. Embarrassing 🫠 Dude seems very powerful. Guess this is phase two of the story. Fey is off to the mortal lands to live with her friends. Tam is going to be emo about it Luc is just there. and Rhys? That dude seems devious right now. He wants to know Fey’s name. She lies but I feel like he already knows.
Hunches?: None right now. This was alot. But I do have an observation. I’m not a writer. But building a huge world like this with lots of characters, names, storylines and backstories is alot. It’s quite the undertaking. I always wonder how somebody manages it all. Its it just stacks of paper in a room? is it all captured in a google doc? Is it pinned up on the wall connected by string like that photo of Charlie from its always sunny? I bet there is software that makes this easier. Thats an interesting angle for me. How does an author manage it all. Especially over a growing number of people, places and things. Just coming up with the names alone would have me spiraling for weeks. Everybody would have such normal names. Naming things is hard.
